Dow Benelux BV (Dow) is a subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company which is a global chemical company with a global leadership position in hydrocarbons, polymers, bulk and speciality chemicals. 1400 R&D employees are located in Europe of which 225 in Terneuzen, The Netherlands. Dow Benelux BV is responsible for nearly half of the total of Dow Europe sales and represents about 15% of the sales of The Dow Chemical Company. The company strongly emphasises sustainability in its manufacturing and R&D strategy. It has been a participant and coordinator of 20 EU framework programme projects. It brings significant experience and resources in project management, polymer structure characterisation, and materials development. The R&D organization has access to fully equipped testing laboratories, pilot plants and market development units. Dow Benelux BV has a strong presence in coating markets in terms of SB latexes, epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics.
Dow’s first role in BASE is the effective and efficient project coordination, ensuring optimal integration of RTD activities. Dow’s scientific impact resides with the use of specialised characterisation technology for selected applications and ability of introducing nano-coatings into selected markets.
