The main activities of Mare Engineering s.r.l. (MARE) comprise the design, simulations and testing of new materials used as high porous and selective filtering devices. The materials can be organic or inorganic, with a selected degree of porosity. Starting from the knowledge of the chemical species and compounds to be filtered, new processes and materials are designed and tested in order to verify the performance of the materials as highly selective filtering devices. The porosity can be properly designed in order to obtain a high selectivity of the system with respect to some specific chemical species. Experimental set-ups can be developed ad hoc to analyse all the chemical-physical parameters of interest: superficial absorption phenomena, thermal stability of the material, degree of selectivity, and so forth. The filtering devices can be tested in order to evaluate the selectivity and the selected compound retention degree.
