The University of Queensland

The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia through the Centre for Biomolecular Engineering (CBE), contributes a unique total bio-engineering concept to the existing consortium. Their research focuses on the science of chemical self-assembly processing, with the ultimate aim of defining new products and new process routes for the manufacture of existing products. The work is innovative as it bridges the often disconnected research areas of microbial strain design for expression of the peptides and the bio-processing part. CBE is associated with the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology and the School of Engineering. CBE provides a unique multi-disciplinary research environment that brings together scientists and engineers who have the shared aim of defining the knowledge and process needed to speed the delivery of complex bioengineered products to society. CBE has state-of-the-art laboratories and collaborates with a number of leading research groups both locally and internationally.
UQ is contributing to BASE using own resources. For this link to the EU-BASE activities, CBE has received a grant from the Australian Government, Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) under the International Science Linkages (ISL) Programme. Thereby, a true global network to advance peptide synthesis technology is built.
